When the Clock Strikes Midnight. . .

Hello my friends,
Do you mind me asking, "what were you doing when the clock struck midnight and 2017 came to an end?

Were you nestled all snug in your bed fast asleep, or were you up celebrating?
Our table was set and we were ready to party with family and friends.
If we had been having a formal dinner we would have dined upstairs, but since we were having finger foods and playing games I decided to host it downstairs.
That way we didn't have to lift that heavy typewriter off
 of the table.  :)

Some of my blog friends have the cutest clock plates.  I don't, so I did my best to make do.  I set the table with black and white dishes and topped it off with a clock face.  This is one I picked up at a thrift store.  If I had been hosting a party upstairs and wanted to use them on all of the plates you can buy them at Hobby Lobby.

I bought the foil bags last year on clearance at Hobby Lobby as well.  They would be fun to fill with New Year's wishes.

I used a simple snowflake goblet to tie in with the b&w.

This old Underwood typewriter is one of my favorite vintage items.  I bought it from one of my friends yard sale about
10 years ago for $25.

Paper clocks and garlands that I made in previous years are sprinkled around on the table.

And who doesn't watch the clock and count down the seconds on New Years Eve?
I gathered a few from my collection and added them to the table.

Mason jars spray painted gold add a bit of bling.

I decided to leave the green garland on the chandelier and hang assorted winter themed ornaments from it.

Ice skates, snowflakes, pine cones, and skis.

And what was I doing when the clock struck midnight?  I was giving my sweetheart a smooch and sipping on Martinelli's sparkling cider.

It was the first time in years that I didn't bang pots and pans.  But there sure were a lot of fireworks going off in our area.

I'm looking forward to putting '2017' behind me and welcoming a New Year!

Wishing you all the very best!!
hugs,
Jann

I'll be sharing with these fun parties:

Jann, oh I love your tablescape! Those clock faces are adorable! I was fast asleep all snug in my bed. I tried but couldn't make it past 10:30. Happy New Year!

What a lovely post!
We had company in the afternoon. They left about 6:30 and Steve and I both fell asleep in front of the TV. We woke up at 11:30, so we stayed up to kiss in the New Year! That's called celebrating, to two old geezers like us, LOL.
Happy New Year!
Connie :)

Jann, I was in snuggled in bed as I had plans for the next day. The fireworks went off at 9:00 pm here and it was so cold all outdoor festivities were cancelled. I understand there were some who braved the cold to see the fireworks but they were recommending watching them on the city's Facebook page.

I attended a get together yesterday New Year's Day with my aunts ahd uncles representing my Mom who does not travel that far these days. We played scrabble and had roast beef with all the trimmings for dinner. I drove home with the full moon lighting my way. It was great! Sylvia D.

This is so pretty and such fun! We were at friends' home and it, too, was lovely and well decorated. But you have them beat! By a mile!

Sleeping---after a sweet goodnight kiss. We stayed in from the freezing cold. This is a lovely post, I love all the clock faces, though I'm not fond of time continually marching on. Have a happy new year!

Wonderful party, Jann! I snuggled with kitties, under the covers, with a glass of Prosecco. "We" made it to midnight on the east coast and called it an evening. Happy New Year!

We were playing the longest game of Uno known to man and speculating as to whether it would be finished by midnight. Ha! We did take a break to blow a noise maker and have a smooch. This was the first year I had no decorations up... just the Christmas tree lights. Would have loved to be at your table where the decorations were gorgeous. Your guests were in for a treat.
Happy New Year to you,Jann.

I am always in bed by 10:00 no matter what is happening around the world! I'll find out in the morning! Now, if I were invited to your fun party, I would stretch my bedtime a little! Great fun decorations.

Jann, I adore your table and the clocks! One year for New Years I decorated with clocks as well and loved it. This year me and my man went to Charleston SC as it was part of my Christmas so we spent New Years there. Well, I meant I was going to stay up till midnight which I usually do not on New Years. My sweet man feel asleep around 10:30 that night. I watched hallmark movies and drank coffee! But I made it till midnight. In which I gently leaned down and gave my man a kiss on cheek as I whispered, "Happy New Year". Happy New Year to you Jann. Praying this new year brings you blessing after blessing. Hugs and blessing, Cindy
